He's drawn many comparisons to Vince Young and is just a pure specimen of an athlete. Not only is he the nation's #1 prospect according to rivals.com, but he's also the #28 ranked basketball prospect. He should share time with Todd Boeckman behind center much like the 1-2 punch of Chris Leak and Tim Tebow at Florida in 2006.
2. Julio Jones (Alabama): The jewel of the Nick Saban recruiting class is WR Julio Jones from Foley, AL. It's true that Alabama has a lot of talent at the wide receiver position, but Jones is too good of a prospect to not see significant playing time for the Tide. He doesn't have freakish size or speed, but his route running, catching ability, and overall atheleticism made him the nation's #4 prospect and #1 receiver.
3. Darrell Scott (Colorado): The nation's #1 running back prospect from Ventura, CA chose to go to a team where he will be a standout from day one. This will more than likely be the name that people will associate with Colorado football this season. Between him and Cody Hawkins, the Buffs appear to be headed up in the offensive ranks for years to come. Scott chose Colorado out of offers from USC, Florida, Michigan, Miami, and Texas amongst several others.
4. Will Hill (Florida): Will Hill is the top athlete in Florida's 2008 recruiting class. Urban Meyer has shown he's not afraid to plug in freshmen to play critical roles on the team. Whether he competes with USC transfer Emmanuel Moody at running back or takes on a defensive back role in the fall remains to be seen. However you can bank on the nation's #1 athlete from Jersey City, NJ to make an instant impact for the Gators this season.
5. Jermie Calhoun (Oklahoma): The nation's #2 running back from Van, TX will be a front runner to start the season as the Sooner's starting RB. Calhoun joins the ranks of Adrian Peterson, and Demarco Murray as top tier running backs to commit to the Sooners in recent years. The departure of Allen Patrick and the fact that Demarco Murray is still in recovery mode from his knee injury from last season opens up a window for Calhoun to come in and star. He will be another top ranked running back to come to Oklahoma and shine. I'd expect many comparisons to be made between him and Scott (Colorado) this season as the Big 12's top two freshmen.
