Notre Dame's 0-5 start has overshadowed the historic significance of their trip to play UCLA in the Rose Bowl. The last time the Irish did played their they were led by Knute Rockne and The Four Horseman. The date was January 1, 1925 and Notre Dame beat Standford 27-10 in the Grand Daddy of Them All. All these years later, when the golden helmets are bouncing over that famous turf, the legacy of those five gentelman will still very much be with the Irish. The other reality of the trip is a loss would put Charlie Weis' record through 31 games at Notre Dame at 19-12, the very same records of both Bob Davie and Tyrone Willingham over the same span.
