Ease Up on Delany

Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany has been criticized by what seems to be every national college football writer for saying the Big Ten won't drop their academic standards to better compete for recruits with the SEC. Delany's comments, however, have been taken out of context. It should be remembered that Delany's comments were more in response to recruiting expert Tom Lemming's suggestion that the Big Ten should drop their academic standards and less about taking a shot at the SEC. Whether he needed to respond to Lemming on the otherhand, is a very good question.
